Control access to your blog

You can control who can edit your blog, and who can read it.

Let others edit your blog

  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  3. Select the blog to update.
  4. In the left menu, click Settings and then Basic.
  5. Under "Permissions," find "Blog Authors" and click Add authors.
  6. Enter the email address of the person you want to add.
  7. Click Invite authors.
After they accept the invitation, they'll be listed as an author. You can add up to 100 total members (authors, administrators, or readers) to your blog.
Note: To manage and post to blogs, invited authors or administrators will need a Google Account.

  • Add and edit their own posts

Administrator

  • Add or remove other administrators and authors
  • Change the blog's settings or template
  • Edit or delete any posts
Blogs must have at least one administrator.
If you want to make someone an administrator, go to the menu next to their name and select Admin.

Note: If you make someone an administrator, you give them the right to remove you from your blog.
Remove access from a team member or yourself
  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  3. Select the blog to update.
  4. In the left menu, select Settings and then Basic.
  5. Under "Permissions," in the "Blog Authors" section, find the team member to remove and click Remove 

Their previous posts will still appear on the blog, but they will not be able to edit them.
Troubleshoot issues

An admin lost access to the blog

If an admin loses access to the blog, another admin will need to give permission back. If you're the only admin, try other accounts you manage to see if you have access to the blog.

Disputes over blog ownership

Blogger is unable to mediate disputes over ownership.

Choose who can see your blog

By default, your blog is public, and can be read by anyone on the web. To change who can see your blog:
  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  3. Select the blog to update.
  4. In the left menu, click Settings and then Basic.
  5. Under "Permissions," find "Blog Readers" and click Edit.
  6. Select Public, Private - Only blog authors, or Private - Only these readers.
  7. Click Save changes.


Note: After you make your blog private, people who remember or have a copy of the web address of an image may still be able to view it.
Remove access to your blog
If you don't want someone to have access to your blog anymore, you can remove their access.
  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  3. Select the blog to update.
  4. In the left menu, click Settings and then Basic.
  5. Under "Permissions," find "Blog Readers" and click Edit and then Private - Only these readers.
Next to the name of the person you want to remove, click Remove Remove.
Tips for sharing your blog with certain readers
If you select "Only these readers," you can choose who can see your blog.
  • Readers will need a Google Account.
  • You can share your blog with up to 100 people, which includes readers, authors, and administrators.
Limit access if you have adult content
If your blog contains adult themes or language, you must add a warning page that shows before people can see the content in your blog.

Adult content warning required:

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit content

Adult content warning not required:

  • Non-sexual documentary depictions of nudity
  • Depictions of nudity that serve a clear educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic purpose
If you believe your blog has content that isn’t suitable for all ages, you can choose to show the content warning.

Add the adult content warning

  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down arrow.
  3. Select the blog to update.
  4. In the left menu, click Settings and then Other.
  5. Under "Adult content," select Yes.
Note: If a blog with adult content is brought to Google’s attention and the content warning is not active, we will turn on the warning for you. If this happens repeatedly, the blog may be removed.

Move a blog to a new owner

To move a blog from one owner to another:
  1. Follow the steps above to let others edit your blog.
  2. Remove access to the original blog owner.


To change the name of the posts of the original blog owner, the new blog owner will have to delete and republish the post.

Share content on other sites

Turn on Share buttons on your blog

Share buttons let others share your blog via email and social media sites.  
  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  3. Select the blog to update.
  4. In the left menu, click Layout.
  5. In the Blog Posts widget, click Edit Edit.
  6. Check Show Share buttons.

Share your content on other websites by using a site feed

Site feeds send users notifications when your web content is updated. 

Select the content to share

  1. Sign in to Blogger.
  2. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  3. Select the blog to update.
  4. Select Settings and then Other.
  5. Under "Site feed," select how much of your content to share.
    • Full: Shows entire content of each post.
    • Short: Shows an excerpt from the beginning of each post.
    • Until Jump Break: Shows content before your jump break.
    • None: Turns site feed off entirely.
    • Custom: Set advanced options for blog posts, comment feed, or per-post comment feed.

Share your content using Blogger feeds

You can share your blog by adding these URLs to your feed reader.
Change “blogname” to your blog address. Site feeds don't work with private blogs.
Share all content
Full-site feeds are updated in real time. Developers can subscribe to low-latency updates by using the PubSubHubbub protocol.

Share content using other feed providers

If you use FeedBurner or other services, redirect your feed to complete the setup.
To redirect your feed:
  1. Copy the site feed from the service.
  2. Sign in to Blogger.
  3. In the top left, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  4. Select the blog to update.
  5. Select Settings and then Other and then Site feed.
  6. Next to "Post Feed Redirect URL," click Add. 
  7. Paste the URL.
